I purchased a pair of Atomic ff split fins that were on clearance as a dive shop near me was closing its doors. I hadn't tried them out in over a year until this weekend when I did a very shallow dive near a lighthouse in Miami. For comparison, my main fins are a pair of Sherwood Triton fins and for shore diving/travelling I use ScubaPro Go fins, both are great .
However, using the Atomic split fins, I felt that the heel would flex as I kicked; the harder I would kick the more it would flex. The foot pocket's rubber extends about four inches from the heel towards mid-foot.
Is this what these fins are designed to do? It seems like there is a lot of power transferred to the flexing of the foot pocket instead of transferring to the blades. I think I might've made the wrong decision in buying these fins.
