Since the weather was so nice this weekend on Sunday we decided to go to the Atlantic Quarry in Atlantic, IA. Visibility was great at 20+ ft., and the fish were everywhere! Mostly bluegill, however we spotted a few large striped bass and crappie. Unfortunately the bass were very camera shy. Water temp was about 77 above the thermocline which was around 22 ft. We did two very enjoyable dives. Below are some pictures, taken with my Olympus Stylus 600 in an Olympus housing, internal flash only.
Parking right at the water's edge, what could be simpler?
Other divers getting ready for a dive. We followed the shoreline on the right.
The friendly Bluegill were very curious about us
Lloyd with some new "friends"
Crappie
Lots of fishing line, Lloyd spent some time cutting the hooks off
Not a great shot, but it gives you an idea about the number of fish
Friendly little pumpkinseed
Mr. Lloyd decided to do a little fishing
Not sure why, but I liked this shot. Kind of eerie.
I decided to surface and get a quick shot looking back at the entry point
A couple of the large boulders in the quarry along the shoreline
Another Bluegill
