I'm a Fish!
I will be in Athens, Georgia from June 1st to July 31st, 2006. Wondering about the dive sites nearby and scuba stores. Let me know!

In addition, that is not related to diving, do you know of any place that will provide a housing for just 2 months lease? It will be me and other roommate. We would be very interested in fully furnished apartment in the area of Athens or near.

Thanks a lot for your time and help!

Lake Jocassee is not that far from Athens. Nice clear water lake with great depth even from the boat ramp but cold.

Sorry, can't help you with the lodging part.

There is one dive shop in the Athens area.
Dolphin dive center - http://www.athensdivecenter.com/index.html
I have used them for small purchases, but they are more expensive than other shops closer to the Atlanta area. There are quite a few shops within a 30-50 mile drive of Athens if Dolphin does not have what you need.

Dive sites nearby include
Lake Jocassee, 1.5 hour drive from Athens
Lake Lanier - 1 hour from Athens - see the Lake Lanier Looney bird forum
Savannah area - Grays Reef is a nice dive - 3-4 hour drive and then 2-3 hour boat ride
If you have a long weekend you can drive to the Florida panhandle in 6-7 hours and hit Vortex or Morrisons springs or the gulf at Panama City
