I will dive till I am unable (I'm now 70). I don't dive boats (mostly) and I dive from shore solo. Once I feel I can no longer dive I will go back to snorkeling. If there comes a time when I have to give up snorkeling I will do one final scuba descent and breathe the tank dry.
Take one last really deep dive!

I'm coming up quickly on 62 and I just got certified in January. I'll be diving as long as my aching knees can get my sorry arse up off of the bench with all of the gear on.
I keep in good shape, but it's the knees I worry about.
G

When you turn 65 MediCare will put in some new knees :)

i'm also 58 and in great shape. I'm an active teaching instructor, a tec diver and I regularly work as crew on a dive boat. I just did a 180' tec dive last week and have over 2000 dives.
Yes...it all hurts more than it did in my 20's or 30's!
We have folks on our boats well into their 70's and a couple of 80's. I'm hoping that my health and fitness will allow me another 15 or so years of diving. My active teaching days and tec days probably won't last as long.
I figure as soon as I start to act old, i'll be old.

When I lived on the west coast my plan was to take that last dive from Monastery beach and descend into the Monterey Trench... what a last dive that would be! But now that I live on the east coast, well, shore dives just don't get that deep, so now my plan is: in my 90's all the solo freediving I want LOL!

I got certified two years ago at 64. I am also somewhat disabled. Diving is an excellent activity for me since, once in the water, the physical demands are easy for me to handle. I don't see any reason not to keep diving indefinitely unless some other health issue rears its ugly head.
