Most dive centers, upon having a diver marking yes to asthma do one of two things:say 'not without a doctors consent' or say 'don't worry about it'. The second always scare me a little because they're making asumptions about what's going to happen to you based on thier experience with other indiviudals. As someone else said asthma is different for different people (like the triggers and reactions). I my opinion I would go to a doctor and get an ok. More likely than not you'll be able to dive. You could also contact DAN (dan.org) and speak with thier medical questions people. Describe your condition, and they can give you advice. I've had people talk with them and decide the risk to themselves is minimal and then not mark anything on thier medical form. Always remember that the medical questioneers are voluntary information, anything you don't provide probably won't every be known.
But at the end of the day what's more important? $60-$100 or the piece of mind knowning that your condition is safe (or not) to dive with?
