Hello. REcently I was diagnosed with asthma. It appears to be triggered by environmental conditions or perhaps sustained job-related stress (no symptoms when I'm on vacation/at home).

Anyway, I consulted with DAN, which advised a pulmonary function test - which I had today. The RT administering the test thought all looked pretty normal. He was sending to the specialist who he worked for, who was then going to forward to my GP who ordered the test.

My question is quite practical in nature. Assuming all is well, what do I do next time I go diving and complete the checklist that all ops have you complete? I check off that I have asthma. DM gets alarmed. Do I whip out a copy of the test results? Do I need some kind of certification from the doc that I'm safe to dive?

Thanks.

Most operations I've been with (liveaboard, rental shop, and day boats) state that any history of health "problems" noted on the form should be accompanied by a doctor's letter stating fitness for diving.
