I got a HD2000, will buy housing and light and wide angel lens, any suggestion? I saw a UK HID cannon 100, is it can use as video light? how about 'Sea & sea Lx33' and 'Dark Brucker 12W HID 2100mA Vide Light'?

How Cannon 100 contact housing? any arm I should buy?

Thank you

what kind of filter with house? can I use a Normal 67mm red filter for underwater.

That Patima housing looks solid. I think I'd go that route instead of my suggestion.
I've read in threads here that the early Epoque's had problems with flooding but hopefully that's been corrected.

The Patima housing for the Sanyo is a very nice, solid housing. Very well built and works well with Inon wetmate lenses which is always nice

Hi,

I recently did a 60 dive trip with the Epoque housing and had no problems with it leaking at all. The shop I bought it from said that the housing design had been modified to prevent the earlier reported leaks. I was very pleased with the set up - the only slight downside is that being small and light it was a bit hard to hold steady. Mounting on a tray made this easier - possibly the Patima is heavier and hence easier to hold steady.

I used a Fisheye 1000 as a combined dive torch/video light which worked OK but to be honest I didn't need a light during the day nor did I use a red filter. I found white balancing against my hand was all I needed to go to get good colours. I used an Inon UWL WA lens which was useful but I was able to get good footage without it.

You can see some short examples of my footage on youtube if you search for: kMEu9xYF9qA (sorry the antispam filter is not allowing me to post a URL)

The clips aren't great value but this is mainly because I haven't got any editing software yet and the format I exported them to youtube isn't very good. On a HD TV the quality of the video from this set up looks very good. When I get the kit to edit the video I'll post some better clips.

Hope this helps,

Richard

Hi Richard, thank you for sharing the video.
I'm very interested in this model of videocamera and there are not much underwater videos made with this Sanyo.
It looks good, but I don't like very much the housing from Epoque.
At what depth have you carried the housing ?
Thank you again.
Scipio.

Scipio

I think the deepest I've been to with the housing is about 30m - I believe it is rated to 45m. What's impressed me with the camera is that I was still able to white balance and shoot without lights even at that depth.

I agree the quality of the housing doesn't compare perhaps to a more expensive aluminium one but at less than $450 it represents excellent value especially when many much more expensive housings for other vidoes don't give access to manual white balance.

Richard

Hi Richard,
Thank you for the informations about the depth.
You are right, the alluminium housing from Patima is very good, but too much expensive.
I have to take in consideration the Epoque housing.
Thank you again.
Scipio.
