Aruba - what should we do?

Heading to Aruba for the first time in Sept. We have 4 mornings of diving scheduled, but looking for some help with the "must see" type of things on land? Any recommendations? Resturants, places to visit, things to do etc...

Any help from those more familiar with the island would be much appreciated.
 
If you're into BBQ Ribs, Smokey Joe's(high rise district). best I ever had, hands down, Marina Pirata(near Pos Chiquito), El Faro by the lighthouse is great, too, all good restaurants to check out.


When are you going? I'll be there Aug 26 - Sept 9, in case you wanna change things up a little and do some snorkeldiving, let me know.
 
If it is your first time there, the bus tour will give you a good idea of the island, as will the jeep tour. The lighthouse is a really nice place to visit near sun set. As far as resturants, our favorite is Giannis. It is some of the best Italian on the island. It is a bit pricey, but then most things are in Aruba. I would also highly recommend baby Beach. It is a great beach to relax at and there is pleanty to see in the water. It is a bit of a trek down to the other end of the island. We will typically rent a car and go down there then drive through the national park. It is a pretty unique place with some interesting roads. If you have young ones, the butter fly farm is another good stop. We had a great time there with our Son. Down town is interesting to see once, but not much there. HTH
 
Definitely head out on the Jeep tour. It takes about 4.5 hours and you get to see quite a bit of the island (almost all of it!). Other than that, just relax on the beach. There's not much else to do there unless you're into gambling and clubs (from what I hear, I don't gamble or club). We stayed in the low rise area, which was much more relaxing. We ventured over to the high rise area one day just to check it out and were very glad we chose as we did.

Sorry for be a bit slow on responding...
We are going to miss each other by a day. I land on Sept 10.

Thanks for the info though.. I am always excited by a good meal.

Thanks - I am not much on gambling either, but I have tons of hyatt points, so we will have access to a casino if we feel a little lucky.

I am really looking forward to a little lazy time on the beach.
