Just got back from getting married in Aruba. My wife and I found the time to do 4 dives while there.
I can't say enough about Native Divers. They were one of the best operations I have ever dove with. Vanessa and Romeo run a small operation that caters to small groups. Day one we had 3 divers total and day 2 we had 5.
Their new boat is easy to dive from and very comfortable. Vanessa picked up up from Bucuti both mornings in a minivan that was very nice. Not the typical "beater" island van that we saw just about everywhere
. She dropped us at the Marriot pier with a short walk across the beach to the actual pier.
Being that my wife is newly certified and still a little nervous, we opted for easier dives on this trip.
Day 1:
Arashi Reef - 45 fsw
This is a nice reef with fish, eel and lobster. Not a lot I can say other than it is a nice reef dive. No current, just an easy swim.
Pedernalis Wreck - 27 fsw
This wreck, or what is left of it has some history. Torpedoed in WWII the bow and aft sections were cut away and towed to the US where they were joined together to make an invasion craft for Normandy. The center section is scattered in 3 places. Once again a nice easy dive with no current.
Day 2:
Debbie II - 69 fsw
Sunk as an artifitial reef, it has some growth but still has a ways to go. Surrounded by other reef this dive gave us a chance to see both reef and wreck. There was a large opening in the deck which would make for easy penetration, but not being overhead certified, I just opted for the peek. A huge moray eel lives on the deck near the bow.
Antilla - 51 fsw
This was the highlight of the trip. There are plenty of comments about this wreck on the board so I won't get too involved. Bottom line is lots of marine life and an impressive wreck. We did an easy swim through on this wreck which gave the feeling of penetration but had plenty of outs. Light current in this location.
Next trip to Aruba I will dive the Jane C. I really wanted to do this but lack of time forced it to another day.
Native Divers - Mostly morning trips unless a group of 5 or 6 has a special request. Air only, no Nitrox. 7 days a week. Very friendly and knowledgable. Will dive with them again.
