Very interesting reading -- Old technology meets the modern Lion Fish

The Spring Powered spear gun is one of the oldest designs. The spring powered spear gun was designed and developed by Mr. Kramarenko in the 1930s.

A series of Cressi spring gun models were introduced to the US market in the 1950s by Gus De La Valle * via his association with the now defunct Heathways.

It was initially accepted and later rejected by the "pioneer" serious spear fishermen. " If you can push the shaft (arrow) down the barrel the gun is under powered; If you can't push the shaft down the barrel then the gun is powerful enough to use spearfishing" was the comment of so many of that era.

There was also the serious problem of bent shafts. If the shaft was bent it would not fit down the barrel- making it a very expensive gun to use and turning the spring gun into an early version of the current term "Wall hanger gun"

The three pronged trident point is also vintage spearfishing. It was favored by many for it's holding qualities; the fish seldom could free themselves from the point . A much better point would be the "Pranger" currently identified by most as the "paralyzer point." It has fantastic holding power by virtue of squeezing the fish after the point has set into the fish and it is barbless making removal of the fish an easy task.

Sorry to be the bearer of this information- better now than after you comment the assets of your company to a very obsolete spear gun.
