there are some people that freedive while spearfishing at Beaver Lake.

That is what I want to do, but beaver lake is a bit of a drive since I am still new and will not be able to learn until the weather turns warm.

Beaver Lake would be good for learning. The bluffs across from the dam step down and the visability is pretty good. Access is easy.
Usually in the spring and summer you don't hit the thermocline until 25-30 feet.

Looks like the consensus is Bever Lake around here. I guess the hour or so drive there it is. Thank you for the reply. I hope this new adventure last a while.
