Have Fiji Airways (formally Air Pacific) changed their attitude to customers?

We booked a flight with them to LA and had to subsequently cancel it and change the flight to just Fiji. This meant a (about) $500 penalty for cancellation which appeared steep but we agreed to as it was in their cancellation policy, but they then refused to refund the rest of the $1300 fee. We had to ring daily and argue with everyone from desk girl to main accountant and only when I threatened to publish in the Melbourne Herald sun and Today Tonight via my daughter who also owns a PR company, did they reluctantly refund the remaining money. Their excuse was that we had to wait 12 months for a refund.

Sorry I will never fly with them again unless I see they have changed their ways.
