Ouch... how'd that happen??

I saw a Rockwell once with identical damage.........sliced up cleanly like a loaf of bread by another light aircraft. You could almost determine the pitch of the offending propeller!

Fairbanksdive:
What type of insurance is involved? Something like a new car, to cover the note? Can you do something like PL/PD after you had paid the off. As for maintenance , is there any rule that says you can't do your own?

Airplane insurance coverage is a lot like car insurance in the sense that it is primarily liability insurance.

The big maintenance expenses your looking at are annual inspections and engine overhauls. I am almost positive that these have to be performed by certified mechanics.

Do a search on the internet for resource on learning to fly / purchasing aircraft. There's a wealth of info out there.
Planeandpilotmag.com would be a good place to start.
