I read in the Catalina sticky that there are only air fills Fri-Sun in the off-season. Is there anywhere we can get airfills next week? :confused2
My husband and I are planning a combo diving-backpacking trip from Wednesday (27) - Sunday (31) with most of our diving around Casino Point Wednesday and Thursday. This is kind-of a spur of the moment trip, so any tips on off-season weekday diving around Avalon is appreciated.
Also, the nights we're in Avalon we want to stay cheap as possible - what are your best recommendations? (Been to Avalon a few times, but just for the day)

Amazingly, this will be our first time diving at Casino Point-- we figured it was time to get out there finally! We always have done our diving around Two Harbors (Lion's Head Point, Bird Rock, 4th of July cove, etc.) from a dingy & sailboat. We're excited about getting out to the dive park!:D

Yes, you can get fills at either CDS on the Green Pier, or Scuba Luv right up the street. I don't think the air station at the point will be open, but if you ask at CDS, they may send someone out to open it for you.

Have fun...the park is always a nice dive.

Air fills are $6 on the island. SCUBA Luv does high pressure fills and they are the same. The station at the park can do them. Not sure about CDS on the green pier.

Fill station will not be open mid-week (can't blame them, only six divers in the park today).

SeaDana,

Me a two buddies went mid-week at the Park. We spoke with Mayor Bob at Scuba Luv and let him know that we intended to do 3 dives. He gave us two pull carts and 9 tanks. A little bit strenous pulling the carts and dive bags, but saved us a couple of trips back to the shop. The guys at Scuba Luv are great!

I finished my video submission for Beneath the Sea this morning and ran down to mail it with my SCUBA gear in tow. Filled my tank and went out to the dive park to find the wind blowing pretty well, waves bashing the steps and white caps in the park. It had been calm and sunny at the house! Decided not to dive since there was no way I could shoot acceptable video under those conditions. One of the three divers I saw there said visibility was "pretty good." Hopefully it will settle down tonight.
