Hi all,

I have a ScubaPro and an Atomic regulator (first and second stages on each) and want to switch the reg hose between them. I want to put the Atomic hose between the SP first and second stage and the SP hose between the Atomic first and second stage. (If you wonder why, it's because they both have different lengths and one is better for a pony, and the other is better for a main reg).

According to the hose markings, their pressure ratings differ only by 2 psi. I can't remember exactly, but one of them is rated to 27 psi, the other to 25, I believe.

Question: Are the hoses interchangeable or am I setting myself up for potential failures in my regulator systems?

Thanks!

There are some odd ball hose/regulator sizes, but SP and Atomic hose sizes are standard. SP does have a peculiar fitting in that it takes a special wrench to torque/un-torque it, but you can get around that by wrapping a rag around the fitting to protect it and using a pair of pliers.

One thing bears mentioning; anytime you are tightening or loosening a fitting attached to a plastic regulator ALWAYS use a backup wrench so as not to damage the plastic housing.

Good luck,

Couv

In case you don't know, by 'backup wrench', he means using two wrenches, one on the hose side, and one on the regulator side of the connection.
