I was just curious if most if not all regs come nitrox compatible. The reason I ask is I have just seen some listed that specifically said "nitrox compatible." So, are some just for air and some made for nitrox as well like commputers? thanks

yes all regs are nitrox ready. to 40%

if you are using a higher mix - over 40% you then have to get the reg O2 clean.

I asked the owner of a dive shop near me about the kit sherwood make to make their regs nitrox compatible. He told me that he has over 1000 nitrox dives on a sherwood that didn't have the nitrox kit installed.

Anything up to 40% requires no special regulator provisions. So, as long as your nitrox mix is less than 40% (which it will be unless you're doing technical dives), you're good to go with any reg. However there are some concerns with first stages that have titanium involved. I believe there have been some threads here that would shed some light on that subject.

I believe you will find that all current and recent produstion is compatible. Some brands are hesitatant to hang it out there as a banner declaration for some odd reason but will state they are compatible when asked..... go figure.

We are of course talking about recreational blends no greater than 40% O2

Pete
