Archon D100W 10,000 lumen dive light replacement battery? PLS HELP

Hi I damaged my battery before I even had a chance to dive with it. Somehow it turned on in my carry-on. I don't even think I was allowed to carry that large of battery on board but it looks as though it shorted out or something. ( see picture) . Anyway this light was purchased through Aliexpress and shipped to Canada from China and I can not for the life of me find a replacement battery online. the battery pack is supposed to have over-discharge protection, which would likely stop it from discharging below 2.5-2.75V. If the battery got discharged to this point it may read 0V on the DMM (digital multimeter). And the light won't turn on.
I would try to charge it fully and try it.

As for the damage...
I wonder if plane turbulence caused it to spark at that one end? Or maybe there is not a spring on that end and it was striking on something there?

ps. I sent emails out. we'll see if Archon responds. fingers crossed

Maybe just order more thru AliExpress. I have just received the Archon W40VR from AliExpress and asked them to supply an additional battery. It was an added $12. I'll be using it in about 1 month.

I watched the video. Just so you know... both the anode (-) and cathode (+) are at that one end of the battery. Just like the diagram shows on the battery itself.
It's similiar to a 9V Alkaline battery with the (+ -) both on one end.



I wouldn't purposely make it spark like that. But I guess you're indicating that even if you install the battery normally it doesn't turn on, but just sparks?

If so the flashlight electronics could be shorted.

If you have a multimeter - measure the battery voltage - red lead on (+) and black on (-). Example.
The battery may be fine, but the flashlight driver may be fried.

MRTdiver, thanks for the clarification on the positive negative and yes it does not work so I was just showing what was happening when I tried to trouble shoot what was happening inside while trying to turn it on. I am going to charge the battery over night then get a multimeter and check the battery. I watched a YouTube video about it today. Although I am not sure that will give me much info either. But it should tell me if it is discharging the correct voltage at least no?

Ok so, I charged it for close to 24 hours with the supplied charger then took it over to my father in laws house who had a multi charger and did like you said. I went around the entire ring on the negative side and with the positive touching the center of the battery as in the diagram and got 25.2 volts all the way around. Just as it says on the battery. ( Insistently I charged this battery for days in Mexico and had no luck getting it to work). Once I arrived home I tried to make it work being careful to make sure the positive contact could not touch the negitive on the battery and it WORKED!!......well sort of

I assembled it again and screwed it tight and it turned on not very bright but yes it did. I cycled the flashlight to increase the lumen settings and instead of getting it brighter the flashlight got dimmer very quickly and stopped all together. Now back to the arching or sparking with burn smell inside. I am going to charge again tonight and see if I can recreate on video if that helps.

I did see that as the flash light was dimming individual led were dimming or going out before others. It was that dim I could look at the LED's.

What this means is that I believe you need to send it back for repair. That's what it sounds like to me.

Unfortunately the US based Archon never responded back to me. I think it's called Lightnbeyond. I'm in FL cave diving so I don't have all my links.

Dang....what a pain in the but, lol. I was thinking it might be the control board in the battery but it could be the light itself. There is a company in the USA that might be able to fix this. I will try to send the light to them I guess.

Even though I have not had this thing in the water yet and China is saying they will warranty the unit for one year against defects. Shipping back to China is prohibitive. Spend some extra dollars and get a dealer in North America....Lesson learned. I have sent this off to a company called Light&Beyond. hopefully they can help me out. lightnbeyond.com

i saw your video & was wanting to know of what the final outcome is for you. i have a archon light that i am pretty happy with, i am planning on buying the same light you have. based on my experience i would buy another of there products. the site i got my light sells your light for 555.00 us. i think for the money the light is going to be really hard to beat.
