Hi,

I'm planning to stay a few months in Asia to become an instructor and hopefully work there (or, worst case scenario, lots of paid dives ...).

Any one may give some feedback on "intensive" use (+/- 50 dives / month) with the Mikron ?

I love the one I own, awesome confort and breath in such a light reg, but as it's supposed to be only a "traveller" reg, may be it's far from being appropriate for a daily and long term use ?

Anyway, is there any instructor using it actually or you really think I should go for a more conventional setup like Titan or Legend ?

I don't see anything about the design of the Mikron that would make it require more frequent servicing than any other reg in the Aqualung line. The first stage is a balanced diaphragm reg. The second stage has a pneumatically balanced design. The Mikron second stage does not have a Venturi adjustment switch, but it does have a cracking pressure adjustment knob. The regulator manual suggests that the cracking pressure knob be turned in to prevent free-flow when the reg is out of the diver's mouth.

I recommend using it and learning how to do a comprehensive pre-dive reg inspection, which includes testing the i.p. delivered by the first stage, visually inspecting hoses, breathing off of both second stages, etc. Rinse the reg properly with fresh water after salt water dives.

You may want to consider overhauling the reg more frequently than the manufacturer-recommended service interval due to the high use. As an instructor, you'll probably have access to "industry" discounts on equipment and gear servicing. Take advantage of it.

Good luck with your training...
