Comments: This was my first time at casino point, I really enjoyed the dive. Saw an octopus, small wreck located at the buoy in front of the steps. However, I was a little disappointed. I always hear so much about Casino Point but I think there are a lot better more adventurous sites right here on the mainland. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the dive and I will go back, still, I think it will be for an over night trip.

Wow, I love diving Casino Point. Could it be that you just need more time to explore all that it has to offer? I for one, love to dive the Swim Platform. I always find interesting creatures there, both big and small.

Did you get up close and personal with 'Oscar' the resident GIANT Sheephead? Did you get to see all of the cool Nudibranchs that Casino Point has to offer that our shores here off the OC does not have? Did you happen to see the Wolf head Eel (not a morey) that lives in the rocky reef near the Suk Jac? Did you find and *READ* the Jacques Costeau placque? Did you explore under the wondereous and vast kelp beds? Are you able to ID all the fish there? That in itself is an *Adventure!*

Every dive is an adventure, it's what you make of it that counts.

Just my .o2 cents worth.

I think your right. Reading what you wrote makes me want to go back right now!!!!

I remember watching a video clip some of you guys entering through these seemingly massive swells at a wrinkles dive a couple months ago thinking, “Wow I cant wait to develop skills like that, so I can explore every spot possible!”

Of course, they forgot to mention that it took them well over an hour to get past the surf zone! For me, I had fun just being on the beach being an observer and socializing that day...those waves would have swallowed me up whole and spit me out, over and over, and over. I can handle 3-4 footers, not much bigger, for I'm only a mere 5' 3".

Looking forward to the next Wrinkles get together. Are you going?

April 23rd I am gonna put together a 2 or 3 dive day if you want to head back... I will create a post specifically for it....

Casino Point is an AWESOME Night Dive!!! Not too long ago while doing a Night Dive there, the moon was full to where we could turn our lights off and dive by the moonlight. It was SOOoooooooooooo Cooooooooooooool!!! I want to go too, NOW! I'm LONG overdue.

I haven't been in the water since I got back from Coz. I attempted Redondo on Saturday, but couldn't equalize past 21' due to a darn cold. Ok, ok, ok...I know, I know, I know...I shouldn't be diving with a cold. I thought I was better, but my ears told me otherwise. Ugh.

Maybe we can get permission to dive the Valiant??? :eyebrow:

Met Jim, Lexy, Erik, and Steve in the morning. Couldn’t decide whether to dive Crescent again or try Shaws. Jim’s wife made the final call after spotting some dolphins not too far from the reef. Lexy ended up having to abort due to a leak in her alternate, but the good thing is that she ended up winning the McCabe Diver of the Week award! Erik and I buddied up and swam out with Jim and Steve. Upon descending, Jim and Steve disappeared within minutes, so Erik and I ventured through the reef. Vis varied but was mostly decent. Surge was pretty minimal so it was pretty easy to check out all the cracks and crevices. Like Saturday, saw the usual suspects. Erik found a home to 3-4 lobsters, who looked ready to battle for their turf. Shortly afterward, I found an octopus tucked away in a tiny crevice, and motioned to Erik so he could snap a shot. It felt a bit colder than the day before, but a good dive nonetheless!

Here are the only pics of that dive that are worth a few pennies.... all the rest is crap.
Jim, I hope they won't get in the National Geographic again !!

Oh, Man! :11: I can't go I am walking the plank on the 23rd. Woops, I mean I'am getting married. I knew there was going to be consequences, but I didn’t think it would start off on day one. I should bail out and go to Casino Point!

Paul, Tyler and I met in the main parking lot and after much shuckin and jivin I managed to convince them to GEAR UP. We strolled down the beach and headed out in from of the Sea Lodge. Entry was pretty easy as the waves tonight were small and lacked any real force. We all made a leisurely kick out past the buoy and dropped in to 30ft of water and headed west and into the canyon. Visibility increased dramatically below 70ft. The canyon opened up and at this depth surge was non-existent. It was also much much colder. Both my computers say it was 49. It was octopus night and they were all over the place. Size ranged from grapefruit size to tiny ones about the size of a cherry tomato. Other things seen tonight included navanax, Spanish shawls, halibut, sole of many varieties, whitefish, midshipment and more. On EAN30 this is a nice long dive but eventually we turned back east and up and over the canyon walls. Crossing the sand we found an assortment of rays and a target scrimp or two. Stopping at 20ft we did some drills and then continue back in to the beach. Surf remained low and he made an easy exit and stroll back to the trucks.

Post dive chat was all scuba all the time and the night was beautiful. Stars were out, night was clear and cool. We were DRY! Life was good.

It's cooler to rent a condo for multiple people. You can fit 6-8 people on them for $500/weekend. That breaks down to less than $100/person for two nights...and then you can do group cooking and wine drinking etc... Loads of fun!
