Cardog: The bio-tank lock should be rinsed with fresh water to remove salt build up etc. A suggestion would be to soak your tank lock in warm tap water and see if that helps. The tank locks provide 10x the tension of a normal cam band. There should always be a 3/8-1/2" gap when the lock is tight on the tank. This allows for expansion and contraction and helps prevent lock up. If you still have a problem give us a call any week day @ 800.231.0909. The bio-tank lock manual is available at:

I always rinse my bc in hot water after a dive. I DO NOT however have a 1/2 " gap when tightened. Both buckles almost touch.
