I was hoping that some of you may have an opinion on this topic. I believe that Aqualung purchased Apex. My question is how much of the great Apex reliability has made it into the aqualung products. Do you think that the Aqualung Titan LX is comparable to the Apex atx-50 or 100. If not, what do you think the limitations are in the Titan.

I’ll probably only be doing warm water diving but would like a reg that could take cold temps and depth if the need arises.

Thanks.

First of all, its APEKS....

Secondly, Aqualung did NOT buy APeks, they distribute them in the US.

Lastly, the search button is your friend. USE IT!!!!

This topic has been beaten to DEATH!!!!!

Thanks for the courteous reply. I grew up in NY but have lived around people with good southern manners for seven years. Your post makes me homesick. I think I’ll give my folks a call.

I am not trying to be mean, just tryin to give a newbie some good advice.

Before you start a new thread on something, do a search, and it will bring up alot of threads already discussing this same topic.

If you want to add something, you can reply to one of those threads. Starting a new thread about a topic that has like 224 posts already on it is dumb...

Use the search button and punch in Apeks vs. Aqualung. Good Luck, lots of reading...

P.S.-- I hope you had a nice chat with the folks. LOL...

Both the Apeks line and Aqualung legends are excellent. I have nothing but good things to say about them both. Here in Finland the Apeks regs and the legends are the ONLY ones that continue to perform and have no problems. I think your personal preference will make the difference, so try them out and go with what you feel most comfortable with.

Personally I went with the Apeks becuase I liked their field history, quality and reliability that has been field tested for a looooong time. There is a lot of info about these, but the good answer is you are going for the top of the line and the best choices, so no matter your decision, you have already made the right one.

I've heard good things about Apeks also. My Legend LX Supreme breathes very easily and is almost totally dry, regardless of position.

I have no experience with Apeks, but I have used an AquaLung Titan LX on about 20 dives now...it works great in all conditions and I've been extremely impressed with its performance.

The only Apeks influence on Aqualung products that I'm aware of is the Aqualung Legend, which is an Apeks reg. Other than that, I don't think there is any Aqualung product that has any commonality with Apeks regs.

Thanks ScoobyDave

That's the question I was looking to have answered. I was wondering, since the Apeks line has such a good rep, if the technology in the apeks regs had been transfered to the aqualung products after the merger. I'm sure the Titan LX would be fine for the diving I'm going to be doing but after reading about the Apeks line, on this message board, I decided to go with the ATX-50 ATX-40 combo. I didn't even try it out. Hope you guys are correct on this one. Actually, since I have used nothing but rental equipment I don't have a baseline to compare the Apeks to any other regs. I probably can't tell the difference anyway.

This board is great. In just a couple hours researching equipment by looking at old posts it became clear that a few products have a very loyal following. I'll take those please. I wish my first post on this board didn't get me imediately flamed without answering any of my questions.

i hate to complicate things but i did read on this board that the aqualung glacia had the same internals as the apex 50. i don't know if this is true but i just wanted to mention it to make your life more difficult. ;)
