Apeks XTX adjustment screw plug: is it important?

I may have lost the adjuster screw plug to one of my apeks second stages. Prior to losing it, I was thinking of leaving it off since it seems to be of little benefit. Does anyone else dive without one?

I'm talking about the small round piece with the apeks logo on it in the attached pic.

Just there to fill hole. The o ring is in the adjustment screw...
