I have been diving and servicing my own Apeks regs for thr last 8 years. I've had 5, 1-50 and 4-100's. All out of the box. I always put an Ip gauge on them before and after I get them wet. There is always a little IP creep about 4-5 psi. Out of the box new and after meticulous service. It always gives me pause when the IP creeps up as I hope it stops.

I have a Zeagle Flathead 7 in my hands now. What a difference ! The IP stops like it hits a wall, no creep at all!

I know the design differences but does anybody have the same experience or comments. Having only worked with these 2 setups it's hard for me to compare.

I also have had problems with Apeks HP seats over the years. I have had to go through multiple new seats to find one that would actually hold. Even sent one reg. back to Apeks. They tried several HP seats with the same results and eventually just sent me a new 100.

I have three. I recently serviced the oldest one which finally developed creep after 6 years. Its now back to "like it hits a wall" non-creep. I've never owned an Apeks and would not like "a little creep" either. I guess I've been spoiled be my soldier-like Zeagles. I test the IP every dive and that "hits a wall" thing is very reassuring.

I noticed the same thing... thats why I have FH7's for sidemount and stage. Nobody seems to believe me and says its just a 1-off, but one of my apeks was just serviced and it still hits and creeps ~1psi.. not much.

Have a look at the valve seat. If it is rusty then you will have a problem.
FSR is the ONLY Apeks 1st stage that comes with an "Removable ARCAP valve seat". Replace it and problem should be solved.
However, if it is other models eg FST, DS-4, DST ect etc then there is not much you can do about the rusty valve seat. But you can try this:
Attach a very fine mesh sand paper at the end of a pencil and try to polish off the rust. Don't overdo it. Good luck.
