Don't think you'll be disappointed in whatever choice you make:

Odin/Jetstream - excellent breathing reg - especially coldwater (however - does not come with environmental kit - will freeflow without one in <40 deg water) Used to be quite pricey, but they have come down in the last year or two. Heed that word about having a hard time finding a GOOD Poseidon Tech though......they are harder to come by....... Odd shape - I found it to feel a bit like I had a log in my mouth or something.......

TX50/DS4 - I bought this after diving a year on the Odins.... I've had them in colder water and deeper with no problems whatsoever - stock. Comes with environmental kit. Depending on where you shop, some excellent prices for an outstanding reg

SP - Only been in a pool with them, so we'll leave that alone.

Like I said, they're all excellent choices, don't think you can go wrong with any of them.....

I like the Apeks, TX50/DS4 but SP are quite good as well.

Pistons will often provide higher flow but diphrams are often more responsive.

ScoobieDooo once bubbled...
....my instructor boasts that the SP pistons deliver 3-4x more air that diaphragms do.
So... you lose your air 3-4x faster during a freeflow?

You probably can't go wrong with most high-end regs these days. Price and serviceability become the deciding factors.
