SP's dealer network is a bit wider as many Aqualung dealers do not opt to carry Apeks, so getting service anywhere on the globe is probably easier with Scubapro.

As for DIY service, both companies control parts and limit access to dealers only - but Scubapro annual service kits show up all the time on e-bay while Apeks kits are comparatively rare, so again I'd go with the Mk 17 G250V.

That's true. But I have not found this for scubapro yet: Regulator Rebuild Kits

I found a shop in Germany that sold SP service kits online. AFAIR the address was www.decostop.de - however, that address now bounces to a different site. Still dive related, but not the DIR/Techdiving shop I'd seen.

Maybe someone can provide the correct contact info for this shop?

Apeks.. solid as a rock, long term proven design, I have not seen a shop that couldn't service Apeks, but know many that will not do business with SP

I believe laws in EU require that parts be sold to consumers. (Those liberal B#$*^@!S) Years ago, you could buy Scubapro parts online from Diveinn at very good prices. Apparently SP has gotten to the European dealers and they will no longer ship to US addresses. There are plenty of cracks in the parts supply system. You just have to do some work to find them. I, for one, will not be happy until I can walk into any authorized scuba dealer and purchase parts for the gear they sell.

Well, thanks for all the responses guys. I actually ended up getting the Mk19/G250v DIR set from deepstop.de. Hans was great to work with and answered all my questions. Even with shipping the regs to Japan, it was a great deal. Less than $1200 for 2 Mk19 first stages, 4 G250V second stages, 2 brass SPGs, 2 7' Miflex hoses, and 2 22" miflex hoses.

Wow! That is a good price!

I was a bit shocked at the price. Herein Japan, Scubapro is out of control expensive. MSRP for just a Mk17 with one G250V is almost $900US. I was floored by how expensive Scubapro is here.

Go with the one with the best support in your area. They are both good.
