Apeks Manta inflator?

I recently acquired an old Beaver Zodiac 2000 BC (OK I know it has a rotten reputation but at that price, £0.00, wouldn't you?) fitted with something called a Manta inflator. I've been told that this was made by Apeks and that it works in a similar way to the Buddy Auto Air. Has anybody heard of this device? Sounds as if it may be worth more than the jacket!
