Guys,
Should my new Apek's ATX be oriented on my tank (single AL80) so that the dry seal is on the top or should the hex nut be on top?

???

Mine is set up so the hex nut / turret on top. I'm guessing you're assembling a new regulator since the HP hose would have given it away. However, based on the HP port locations you could always assemble it the other way too.

My DS4/TX50 is oriented such that the membrane is up/hex nut down for singles, but this is connected with my need to orient my Cochran computer sender unit over my right shoulder so it transmits well to my wrist unit.

Dry seal down, othervise you won't be able to set up primary 2nd stage in front of octopus.

I use a TX-100....and mount it upside down (hex side down) to improve hose routing. The hose angle issues that cause me to do this don't affect the ATX50 AFAIK.

As to which hose (primary or octo) goes in front, it depends on your hose configuration. If using a DIR-style long primary hose, you actually want the primary mounted BEHIND the octo, since the primary hose will be running down the side of your body or under your arm, while the octo/back-up hose goes directly over your shoulder.

Hey Scoobie
Cograts on the new reg. I'm seriously considering the Poseidons......

Hi scoobie dooo,

Welcome to the Apeks club:-
There are approx 48 different permutations for layout of a TX apeks, all of them can be of use, with the ATX 100 sort out what you want where, and go for it.

YOU work out YOUR best option, do you want your SPG under your left or right arm, feed for inflators BCD and dry suit, safe second, etc.

Do you want the long hose on your main reg so in an OOA situation your buddy pulls a working reg out of your mouth (thats the way I do it), then you put in the safe second/ octopus. Does the octo go on a bungee round your neck so its there for you

What safe second have you got and it it adjusted so as not to freeflow when not in use (Irecommend something like a TX50 2nd so you can screw in the cracking pressure and turn the venturi down to minimum but you can adjust under water if you have to use it

It all boils down to what you've got and what you need and if you are prepared to spend some time thouht and effort in to getting it right.

Cheer from the other side of the pond

Brian,
I dive the DIR style - long hose and backup necklaced. My SPG is on my left hip.
