First of all the TX100 is discontinued and APEX is just getting rid of extra stock. But they are still a great reg. As far as your Zeagle question that I don't think has been answered... Zeagle regs are made by zeagle. According to the manufacturer they are not the same parts, however, if you look close they are. The thing is that Zeagle used to make Apeks BCD's and Apeks used to make zeagle regs. Now zeagle makes them for themselves, but they are still very similar to the apeks in all aspects. Cost look and performance. Even the first stages are simliar. As posted elsewhere, the only difference between the 50 and the 200 is the port design of the first stage that can be noticed at depth by some.

To the best of my understanding:
Apeks built and rebadged regulators for Zeagle. Some time within the last two years, the parent company of Aqualung bought Apeks. At that point, Apeks stopped building regulators for Zeagle (surprise). Shortly thereafter, the Aqualung Legend was placed on the market. It is my understanding that the Legend is actually made by Apeks.

As to comparisons among Apeks, Mares, ScubaPro, and Poseidon; Many fine points of argument may be made from many perspectives and all will have validity. However, these are (for the most part) an intellectual exercise, as any of these regulators when operating properly and in good condition is more than adequate to depths far beyond reason. Each will have its quirks or unique attributes. When someone asks me which they should buy (from the aforementioned group), I tell to buy it from the LDS and purchase the one that instills confidence in them. These are all VERY high end regs. They will thrill and amaze their new owners.

Personally I prefer Apeks. At the time of purchase I considered many factors and came up with following pros at no particular order:
Apeks do not freeze at low temp and do not require additional treatment to work at low temps.
Environmentally sealed.
Adequate air delivery at extreme depths.
Very well designed hardware. Easy to disassemble and assemble, can be serviced without too many special tools (Just one wrench which could be found at bike store).
Made in Europe so parts can be ordered elsewhere in the world.
It also looks like Apeks is the regulator of choice for most of tech divers around here.
I have two AT100s with AT40 and ATX40 octos and two DS4s with ATX40 for my stages. I do like AT primary second stage better then ATX because of better bubble management but it is not critical.
Really love how regulator performs and am very happy I picked it up among other brands.

I had a Apex ATX 100 + ATX 40 and loved it. Sombody else did as well because it got stolen!

I had an insurance that covered the loss and I am diving now with a ATX 200. But I liked the 100 better. I can not say why or how, but it just felt better under the water.

Seems like youve done youre homework as to the brands to buy apeks would be my choice of diaphragm either the 100 or 200 but the others 40/50s still an option.

Scubapro is my only choice of piston reg and I own a couple of mk20s and g500's which I am very fond of.

Shop around for prices and reviews to suit you the UK magazine diver has good reviews and also answers yor zeagle question... YES that is the us market name for APEKS who were bought by aqualung.

Remember that youre buying multiple sets as to bargaining power and that credit cards often insure automatically as to returns etc. good luck and great diving to you!

Purchased my ATX 50 for $350 + tax new.
Hope that helps.

Here's the deal:

Scubapro- is overpriced and you need very special tools to service them
Poseidon- is special type of reg that will not necessarily treat you too well at rec depths./ The difference lies in the deeper stuff. Again they are difficult to service due to the necessity for special tools.
Mares- Good luck getting parts for mares
Zeagle- Again the same performance as an apeks, but for resale purposes, the apeks name goes further

This leaves one option: Apeks Easy to service. Great performance, Great durability

DONE

who's from the philippines here?
you'll be surprised that gears in the philippines, including regulators, are much cheaper...

and one more thing about atx100...
it was brought down to a record depth of about 1000ft...
and the diver is still very much healthy a diver...
that's how reliable the reg is...
