well I took the padi aow course this saturday and sunday
dive for the first time with dry suit brand pinnagle tri-lame
with a sweat fleece top and pants ,plus dry suit underware
need 37 lbs weight to get down . in 7mil wet suit in ocean only needed 24lbs . water temps saturday 47deg, differant lake 39 deg, was warm in both just felt like the goodyear blimp
we swam from shore no boat and after 3 dives saturday
1 dive sunday ,my 44 year old body gave out on me
now I have to start training running and build legs up
because of were I live the dives were at 5000' above sea level
the navagation part was fun ,the deep dive was cool 30' vis and of course I have been deep before
on the nark test 15 seconds at surface ,19 seconds at depth wich was 71' with altudue turns out to be 85' feet
did not feel any type of nark
my apex's reg works flawsly in that cold water
just wanted to share my weekend
my buddys were just fav the young kid had to tow me back to shore with me finning but not much help
owe that kid a beer

sounds like you had quite a time... thanks for sharing

dry suit diving is a mystery to me... all i can say is, thank god i live in florida

sounds like you had a lot of fun. Yeah, the whole Dry Suit things kinda boggles me too. I'm with Andy, I like these warm waters here in GA. I'm thinking about getting a 7mil Farmer Jon when the watrer gets cool. That's still got to be cheaper than a Dry Suit.

The theoretical depth use to calculate decompression is deeper at altitude than actual depth because of the reduced ambient pressure at the surface. However, the narcotic effect would be reduced at a given depth since absolute pressure is actually less by the difference of ambient pressure at the surface between sea level and altitude.

37lbs ?! Ouch

And we're talking *fresh* water here?!

string
yes fresh water lake in the cdn rocky mountains
as side note not scuba seen 2 grizzley bears , saw 4 ram sheep just walk buy on the road by the lake not botherd by people

24lb in the ocean sounds about right for single steel tank diver in a drysuit.

From what ive seen here people in 7mm plus 7mm jacket semi-drys migrating to drysuits either dont change weight at all or very little either way.

37 seems a huge amount and may explain the "goodyear blimp" comment - lots of air trying to counter for lots of weight.

Edit:- Typo corrected

my instructor did everything to help showed me how to burp the dry suit . even with the extra weight at surface with empty bc was at eye level had to raise arm and vent drysuit again to go down .the ascent went perfect nice and slow . do you now anything abount pinnacgle suit understand it is uk made
sorry bad speller

Ive never heard of the brand or suit so nope. Dont think ive ever seen one on boats either.

The above mimics my personal experience in Monterey.
