I think any Suunto products are using the same RGBM. Mine is always set to 50%, not 100%. However, it is still conservative in my perspective...

compared to RGBM100 with NO deep stop, (ie the Gekko and vyper) is it close, or pretty noticably less conservative?

Very very useful and informative responses so far, thank you all so much. Seems like it's now down to the Vytec and tec 2G. Cheers

Diveanyone: since you use a vytec AND own a Vyper, have you tried the RGBM50 setting? From what I know, the vyper and gekko are identical in conservatism, hence I plan to have the vytec on RGBM50, as well as use the deepstop setting.
What i'd love to know, based on your experience, is; does the RGBM50 make a big noticable difference in NDL and bottom time, and allow you to stay down with other UWATEC users?

I have not tried setting to RGBM50 yet (I tend to be conservative, in my older years), but will just to see the difference between the two. So far, both are mapping the same NDL and bottom time.

Other than the air integration (vytec) you could use the vyper and plan your dives with the deep stops. The model works in halves. example: a dive profile to 120fsw, your first deep stop will be 60fsw (1-2 minute setting), next DS at 30fsw (1-2 minute setting), last will be 15fsw (where you can do the final 3 minutes depending on your gas remaining), but it won't display the 3 minute countdown.

If you get there first (using the RGBM50 setting), I'd like to know.

Thanks

I have the Vytec DS - when planning deco dives I use the 50% with deep stops. This helps match my cut tables. Otherwise I use it at 100% which matches my better half's Cobra.

As for the compass dilemma - get an analog.
