Anyone use the Suunto wireless SPG

Was at the LDS today and was looking at the Suunto wrist computer that had a module that plugged in the HP port of the first stage and you got the pressure wireless to the wrist console. Is it too good to be true. Would love to lose my console all together but are they accurate? They are pretty expensive. I dont want to buy one to find out that have problems reading the tank pressure. Thats the last thing I want is a faulty reading of my air supply.. Do you guys trust them.. ?? Any one have any experience..

I think you are talking about the Suunto Vytec with transmitter, right?

If so, my personal experience is that it works absolutely perfect. I love this computer...!
That said I still carry a very small analog spg with me which is always clipped away and out of my sight. IF the computer craps out and won't give me my tank pressure (which has never happend) I still have my analog spg...

The Vytec is very expensive but really a nice gadget(!). I found it for a very very good price and therefore bought it right away. I ve never regret that for a second...

The Vytec with hoseless transmitter is awesome. I also always kept a SPG and compared the two often and always found they were both dead on with each other.

Just another one saying "Love my Vytec!".. I always use a backup SPG (Zeagle Solo) clipped off to my left waist D-ring and always find them to be very close on PSI readings.. It also has great logging capabilities with the optional PC interface (See sample log page output below). Excuse the photo quality - vis. was bad and it's one of those $8 disposables:

...I love this system, but if you practice valve shutdowns frequently (and realistically it is best to practice them on every dive), it will fail the minute that the system sees no gas on the primary regulator.

Keep this in mind about relying on the system for pressure information. It's nice but it is still best to rely on a mechanical gauge instead of wireless.

Thanks for the replys so far.. It really seemed pretty cool and to think I can go down without a huge console makes it much more appeasing. I guess if you keep an eye on the pressure and it looks to be going down at a normal rate you "should" be ok. Besides I always dive with a 19ft pony so I have a backup just in case.. Might be my next purchase..

You may also want to consider a wrist mounted computer and replacing your console with just an SPG (w/depth gauge if you like). The Cressi-sub mini SPG/D.G. console is very small and doesn't contain any electronics that can fail or batteries that run out. Throw a dive watch on your left arm (computer or bottom timer on right) and you have a complete analogue setup in case anything fails. Oh, and don't forget to bring your tables with you...
