Been in it for about 5 months now (mostly 3x week). It's addicting. I actually haven't dived since I started and am looking forward to seeing how my gains in the gym will translate to my diving. Interested on anyone's take on that view.
The biggest thing is to stick with it. The first month was painful, but when I signed up I figured I would give it a month or two. When I realized the gains I had made in a month, I knew I wanted to keep doing it to see how far I could go. It's never about beating other people, it's all about doing better each time. I have only tried on gym - but the camaraderie of having familiar faces in your class keeps you accountable and motivated. FYI - I'm all about the early am class - wake up and go and get it done for the day. Then you feel good all day about accomplishing so much before breakfast.
