Anyone here scheduled to take a cruise with Blackbeard's the week of May 11-17?

This will be my first live-aboard experience and I can remember browsing their brochure back in 1988 when I certified.

Obviously, I'm becoming more excited as my departure date closes in.

Just wanting to see if perchance there may be other ScubaBoard members signed up.

Hi there! I'm going to be on the May 11 trip. Coming up fast! This will be my second trip with Blackbeards. Last time was an absolute BLAST... went out of Freeport to the Bimini chain. I was brand-new to diving and came out of that trip like a pro. Liveaboard is really different type of experience. It's like a small step up from camping, with 32 of your best new friends. I like that the cabins were air conditioned (my last trip was in August, HOT HOT HOT). But we all got along so well together and has an absolute great time. You'll love it!

I did a trip with them in Jan-Feb. Enjoyed it quite a bit... very reasonable price overall and the crew was great (not to mention excellent food). Just keep in mind that the Bahamas are a fairly impacted region and the diving may not be up to par. Lionfish invasion, algal growth on corals, mass mortality of sea urchins and shallow waters impacted by hurricanes are causes. As a marine biologist, I saw it as a challenge to try to understand why the region was so different from my previous diving in the western Caribbean. Of course the sharks alone were a great reason to dive there!
