I have read the book numerous times and will be taking the class and test for the NAUI Nitrox course next week. Can any of you who have done the NAUI course tell me what to expect in the test?

The chapter reviews are pretty extensive at the end of each chapter...are the tests similar to them? No, I don't want a cheat sheet, I am just wanting to know in general what to expect.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion you can give.

If you read the book, pay attention in class, and understand the materials, you'll be fine. The test closely reflects what is in the book (not surprisingly) and doesn't throw any curveballs at you. It is really straighforward.

I agree with dsteding. I actually took the exam twice. The first time was at the original LDS I took my Nitrox class through, they went out of business but another LDS picked them up, including all their students. I was lucky in that the new LDS was a great store and honored all past payments so I didn't have to pay again. Problem was that they couldn't find any of my paperwork or tests with the old store so I ended up taking it again a full 6 months after the original time. I took it without studying and got better than 90%. If you really learned the material you will have no problem.

As for example questions, I believe they did ask a few names and dates (which is what I missed) so do know those. Other than that it was simply what is the best mix for profile X or figuring out NDL times following X profile on Y mix.

Its a 50 item, multiple choice test, unless your instructor adds to it. If you used the chapter reviews, and if you learned stuff, you should do well. There are a few questions from the first couple of chapters that test minutia, so take another look at that part of the book. Different instructors have different requirements for solving problems so find out before you start the test if you need to runs formulas, use the Ocaen X, use the modifed "circle T" or something else.

Good luck - remember to report back!

The exam was very straight forward and easy to understand. Was based very closely on chapter reviews. No surprises.

Good Luck!

I took the class. It isn't very hard just pay attention and read the book and you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

I haven't "taken the class" as a separate course; mine was included with my OW. :D
Nitrox is easy. You just have to know how to apply a few formulas, half of which are practically given to you.

took the test on Wednesday (today is Sunday) 50 questions, some ridiculous. Some questions require the standard 32 and 36 tables, some require using the wheel and some require using RGBM tables (which I do not have, didnt see in the manual and my guess answer was wrong)
If you know the answers to the chapter end questions, you will pass easily but to get 100%, you need to know other info besides the aforementioned tables.

Very easy to understand, read the manual and try do 32 and 36 tables
