My friend told me this one. He couldn't remember if it was true or some goofy radio bit he heard.

Either way it's pretty damn funny, but if it's true it's has to be the ultimate sucks to be you.

It was back around 96. I think he said in Oregon. A diver died from BURNING TO DEATH! While diving!

This guy was diving alone in a lake where he wasn't supposed to.

They were having a bunch of forest fires. He accidentally got picked up by one of those choppers with the big bucket thing on the bottom.

So a few days later they find this guy in scuba gear burnt up something like 80 miles from the nearest body of water!
 
I did not follow the entire thread, but I believe this incident was associated with an urban legend, firediving.

You can check Bob3's post in this thread Cave diving...most dangerous or you can go to http://firediving.com and get the story from the horse's mouth.

Again, I got the impression that this was urban legend, but I am not sure...don't want to offend all the fire divers out there :)

It's one of the older "modern myths" - I think I heard it first in California in the early 70's. It was BS then and is still BS now.
