Every time dive Cape Ann, wonder how cool it would be to dive in that quarry. i would imagine there is a lot of bottles and neat stuff down there. I think depth is 60. I realize it's posted as "no swimming". (= no diving) Would be nice to do as 2nd dive so won't have to rinse gear. Definately a liability issue for sure. http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/northeast/halb.htm

would be interested if anyone ever snuck in to check out.

Changing the avatar again???

Calvin and I walked past that quarry last year en route to the ocean, and sadly, the two of us had one thought..."COLD." That's prettty sad in a place where the water temp never goes above 50.

Let us know when you'll be down here - we'll dive through the winter!

Will do for sure.. It's usually last minute I decide to get out given all commitments on home front with kids.. I still monitor tides, ocean conditions, winds.. If see conditions are going to be favorable and no commitments, will definately get out. I've had some of my best dives in winter. The key is no winds and lots of sun. (love my dry suit!)

Love my new avatar, it's mein Caymans on decent. Reminds me of my "happy place" Some more pics from Caymans trip in my gallery

I would call and ask. There are a few dcr parks here in PA that say no swimming but upon calling I found that there is no issues about diving them. Good luck. While I lived in RI I thought about hitting that quarry several times to just could never find a buddy as eager as me.

...where I was thinking to myself, "What's wrong? I know something's wrong, but I can't figure it out? What the...?? OH, it's just the fact that I'm basically naked. Now, where did my damned dry suit go?"

Just to retort to your Caymans bragging, South Africa was awesome - maybe I'll Great White my nonexistant avatar...and only 6 months to the Bilikiki!

Have a great holiday - hopefully, we'll see you out and about soon.

Remember I did live aboard on aggressor week of 4th of July. Trip was cut short due to Hurricane Charley. Wahhhhh! We missed Thurs and 1/2 day Friday diving. We made best of it on boat with blender, ice, rum and fruit.. It got ugly by time of hairiest back contest. (Alcohol and nothing to do..) I still haven't planned next trip for year.. I'm on the fence on doing Bonaire again or another live aboard.

Would love to hear about Bilikiki

Let me know when you and C plan on going out this winter and would love to join you guys if I can.

This Saturday or Sunday - probably Sunday (Dec 18). We may go on New Year's Eve as well (figured we'd be too hungover on New Year's Day). let us know!

Just contacted the agent about making our final Bilikiki payments, ouch...

Possibly.. Depends on how soon get my gear back from shop for annual service. Also, left tanks for inspection) Let me get back to you? Already made plans to go skiing NY weekend.

Checked out their website. Looks so coool. I haven't made plans for what want to do this year. After experiencing Hurricane Charlie last year on Cayman agressor, thinking of doing Bonaire again as it's out of Hurricane belt! I may get lucky and be able to get in on last minute deal for someone that has to bag out of a trip.

I like how they really offer unlimited diving unlike my cayman aggressor trip that though they say it, they don't. The captain was so risk adverse. Big disappointment.

We'll keep going through winter, so whenever!! We had to take last Jan off because it snowed every weekend we had free, but we were back in by Feb.

Have you been to Curacao? Sim to Bonaire diving. Lovely. We may do a week there or Bonaire in 2007 - gotta love the easy access!

have a good one -

Never tried Curacao. Yes, similar to Bonaire in terms of shore diving access. I would prefer to go back to Bonaire as there were so many sites I didn't get to try last time. I love the fact can do a shore dive to a wreck!! I just love the grab a tank and go concept. I was with family last time so only got 22 dives in. If I go again for Dive only trip, I would try to at least get 5 dives in! Got to love that before go to bed quicky night dive right offshore from hotel staying in.

Checked with shop. They won't have my gear ready by this weekend. They are getting gear out for those going away on trips in between X-mas and NY.

Some of my best dives have been in winter in between storms where experienced vis of 60-80 feet. You don't have that plankton stuff that makes water greenish.
