You know, last night, a little after dark (I didn't note the time) I heard sirens. It is a fairly common sound and sometimes I go on my lanai and have a look.

I saw a very strange sight. It was an emergency vehicle of some kind (not a ladder truck and bigger than an EMT van, but vannish like that) towing a boat. They were screaming down Kalakaua; I live near the end of the road, close to Diamond Head Road.

Anyway, this may have explained it. If so, it's good they go out in the dark. Many rescues efforts don't do that.

He walked home apparently.

UPDATE: The diver that was belied missing has been accounted for today. Friends originally contacted Coast Guard around 7pm last night and a chopper was sent up. At 11:30pm, the Coast Guard received a call that diver was safe and fine... he had walked home.

That's the Fire Department rescue boat. They're often called in for missing person reports.
