Hey 'Boarders!

I've just scheduled a last minute trip down to Bonaire March 19-27th. I'm super-psyched as this will be my first trip and I've heard AMAZING things. Unforunately my usual dive pals can't get the week off, so I'm headed down all by my lonesome. :depressed:

Anyone else headed down that week who wouldn't mind if I tagged along on a few shore dives? I am planning on doing a lot of boat dives to get around the "single diver" issue so i can tag along with a DM, but since Bonaire is such a great spot for shore diving, I don't want to miss out on it.

I'm AOW certified, have about 90 dives in the log. Did 3 days of diving in December in St. John; before that was in Malaysia (Sipadan) for a week in June 2010. I try to go at least twice a year to stay current (pun intended). Would be happy to "audition" for the role of third wheel if anyone is feeling particularly charitable - and of course, I'll buy the first round of post-dive drinks in exchange for the favor. :D

Try posting this on bonairetalk.com as well and you should have no problem.
Where will you be staying on Bonaire? If you'll be at a larger dive resort, you'll have even fewer problems.
Some of us who have been diving Bonaire for years engage in solo shore diving but this is not something I recommend to new people I don't know...

I'm staying at the Caribbean Club Bonaire - a sister resort of Buddy Dive (which I tried for but looks to be booked).

I'm not big on the idea of solo shore diving, speaking for myself personally.

Will definitely take your advice on bonairetalk though - thanks!

Do not be afraid to introduce yourself to other divers when you arrive. Over the years we have been visiting Bonaire there have been more than a few divers who became a part of our group when we met at the orientation at Buddy Dive or Den Lamen. Or met during SI there.

I have met some fun new friends this way.

As you noticed in my signature, there is a Scubaboard sub group called DNY, that covers a lot of us divers in the NY, NJ, PA CN, MA region, and you are more than welcome to join our trip this coming June!! You certainly would not be diving alone that way!!!

Seriously, the DNY group is mostly divers from near youi, and join the trip or not, stop by and visit the group!

Erica - if you are doing your boat diving through Buddy, they have a single divers chalkboard near the boat sign up chalkboard/gear rinse tanks/weights & gear room. Post your info. I'm sure with the resort being sold out you will meet all kinds of folks on the boats. Good luck!

As many times as I have dived threw Buddy's operation, I was not aware of that list. . Probably partially because I seldom do boat dives on Bonaire any longer.

Thanks for sharing that tid-bit. Others will benefit from that knowledge, I am sure!!!

I know we always had no problem making friends, and adding to our group at Buddy's, Den Lamen, or the Plaza. Just lots of very friendly divers on Bonaire. A happy place!!!

Erica, my daughter and I will be there March 19-26, we're staying at Buddy Dive. Its our first trip there as well. You're welcome to tag along with us. Send me a note, we'll make some plans.
