Charles,
I'm sorry I missed you and we can work out another time. Unless someone gives me a bigger tank though I'm really gonna kill your bottom time. 28 minutes is my longest dive. The guy in the dry suit was using a steel 72 and he got out at about 750 psi. I was using a rented 80 and ended with about 900psi left. I could have squeezed another 5 minutes, maybe, out of it. You have been warned. ;)
(our average depths were a bit deeper I guess. about 45' on first and around 40' for second.)

MikeF,
I'd like to meet you myself. I'm sure we will one of these days. If you are out at the quarry, I'll be the guy in the 7mm wet suit and the empty tank. ;)

CD_,
You are right about the people on here. This post has generated a lot more responses and invites than I ever imagined. I look forward to meeting you as well. I'm sure we will hook up through the DS soon.

Joe...

Keep posting anytime you want to dive. More than likely you'll find someone.

As far as the noobish traits, we were all there. Many are still working on them (me for example) and others are still fine tuning them. Most of us are just looking for an excuse to get wet.

Hey Joe,

Where about in carol stream are you? i'm in wheaton. My wife and i just got OW cert last weekend. We should get together sometime and go diving together if you'd like. My best buddy is OW for about 5 years now and him and i and my wife and kids are going to door county this 4th of july to go diving. However wife will not, but just hang around with the kids and burn some money. lol.

I too not familiar with diving in the area and quickly learning.

hit me back if you are interested, perhaps you can meet us in door county. Plus the fireworks afterward in gills rocks is spectacular.

one other guy here from the board is also looking for a buddy to dive up in door county for the 2,3 and 4th of july weekend. so we may hook up with him as well.

we will be doing shore diving to some of the shipwrecks.

take care

I'm going to be bouncing from Haigh to pearl and back this weekend. Club activities and such. Sounds like you have a good dive planned for the long weekend as well. Too cold for the wife?
I'm right off of North Ave and Schmale (your Main). I intend to get wet every single chance I get so If you are ever up for some local stuff give a holler. I'd be happy to go with you.

Which DS did you certify through?

Joe
Feel free to PM any time.

Sorry about the delay. I didn't see the post.
You are right. Posting here is a great way to get a buddy and meet people. I've me a couple and will be meeting more this weekend!
Around here, in the quarries at least, everyone seems fine with going down on one of the sunken objects and just playing or working on buoyancy. It is a bit different than the boat dives and such where you are on a 2 tank trip and want to get the most for your money. The quarry gets treated like a big training ground, which is good imo.

Hey Joe,

you live about 2 minutes from me. I live 2 blocks from geneva and president. I don't mind splashing around and tweaking skills. God knows i need plenty. lol

I got certified through Berry Aqua Paradise in naperville on Rt59.
it was 2for1 special and so my wife and i went for it. Its not soo much too cold for her when she wear 7mm suit, but she hates wearing 7mm period!. lol It really is alot of work to even put on a 7mm and my problem is putting alot of strain breathing with that tight of a suit, but next larger size suit is too long.

My buddy and i signed up for AOW for Aug class. So trying to get few dives in and tweak things before then.

Although i can't wait for next year islamorada trip. :D

take care
