Well, here's the Minot Beach update.
Matt and I learned that on a beatiful sunny Saturday afternoon, there's nowhere to park in the Minot area. We found the little lot that John mentioned, but it was full (4 cars), and I think Matt noticed that it required a resident sticker there. The few legal spots along the houses north of there there were full.
So we ventured south and tried Egypt beach. We scoped it out and were ready to start gearing up when the heat showed up and started checking for stickers.
On to the lighthouse at the mouth of the harbor. Free parking! Only problem is it's a no-can-do at low tide. It looks promising at high tide though, and there's lots of pots just offshore so I'd bet that the bug hunting is good and the lobster boat harassment is bad.
Around the corner on the way back there's another spot along the seawall that looks ok for parking. Nice beach entry, but at low tide it looked like it was shallow enough to walk out a few hundred yards.
We had a beer in the parking lot and called it a (dry) day.
Oh well. Tomorrow's boat dive should be better.
