I'm torqued....

Last six or seven weekends the weather has been horrible....

Now we have a nice spinny thing that I think is coming up here to raise unholy hades sometime in the later part of the week, and its already kicked up the seas and made diving off my boat very unpleasant - or unsafe.

Looks to be at least a week and, depending on how close this whack comes, two or more before I can get wet again.

I'm going to be going through serious withdrawals at this rate... not good!

So what do 'yall do when you can't dive due to conditions, other than pull your hair out?

Genesis,
When the weather keeps you from the outdoors, you need to go immediately to the backup hobby bungied to the wall in your garage. Try a stationary bike and "B" movies, preferably involving space ships and/or bikini babes. In your case, maybe some old Jacques Cousteau films.

Well, I did get in two trips this last week - but I was very much looking forward to diving this weekend, and that got blown out..

The bad part is that my boat isn't fast enough to get where I want to go during the week and still get back in time to meet my daughter coming home from school - so we have to do "in close" stuff during the weekdays. When you have to go nearly two months without being able to dive the sites you want it REALLY blows bananas!

Surely there must be an organization or a government body we can report this to Genisis, the "unfair weather tribunal" or something?
Send me your fax program, Ill start the lobbying.

Dave

Genesis once bubbled...

Time for a new boat! This time, get one big enough to take all of us from SCUBA Board with you. I'll even chip in $5 for gas...

Genesis,
You are a short hop from Jackson Blue. When in doubt, go cave diving.

Side note,
We are coming to Destin for a Bachelor Party to go fishing and stuff. Any recommendations on boats, where to stay, etc..

sounds interesting but I lack a few things - like the training and experience - to partake - at least of yet :)

...NOT! So you have to stay 'in close' during the week....at least you get to go! You get to taste what real salt water is like and can see farther than the end of your arm. AND you get to do it more often that 2-3 times a YEAR!

Come inland aways where the only water available within reason is green, sometimes thicker than pea soup, and you're lucky when you can see your fins! Then and only then can you complain!

Wanna trade locations? ;)

All in good fun, Bud. Your area is one of my favorites and I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya! :D

Genesis, just noticed your location.I've family there,Crestview and MossyHead. If you're interested there are a lot of places to go diving for fossils or artifacts close to you.I live in Jax and we've had 4 weeks of Nor'easters blowin' up some high surf.Vis is 20 miles out if you can get out .We go to the rivers for fossils the last 4 weekends ,Megs to 6",mastodon teeth, whale teeth, dolphin teeth, vertabrae, various other bone and shell. This last weekend we even got to play with some little 4' gators.Beats watchin' TV.

I'll pass on those.

Sharks I don't mind. 'Cudas don't bother me, although they intimidate some people.

Gators are another matter :)

I know there are some springs around here, but I'm not cave trained and probably won't be for a while yet. That limits my options significantly, unfortunately....

Besides, I LIKE diving in salt water :)

It'll quit blowing eventually..... might even do it while I can still get some bugs...
