I dove the jetties yesterday. With the tide timing, we did one longer dive.
The visibility was 15 - 20 feet, due to algae in water.
Still saw lots of marine life and activity on rocks.
The tides look more favorable in the days ahead.

Dwatts,

If your concerned about air usage, why don't you look into renting some steel 100's? That will give you a boost in bottom time.

Also, are you nitrox certified?

Apparently, the shops in PC only rent AL80s. I called several. I'm not [yet] nitrox certified because I wanted to get my breathing down in order to benefit from nitrox. In fact, last summer I was going to get certified (my breathing is much better than a few years ago) but I just never made the time.

I'll have two AL80s tomorrow.

Thanks OH for the update. I had heard the algae was in, hoping it was gone by now.

A BIG thanks to TessUnderWater and DocCarl for showing me around the jetties today. You guys were great!
Carl, your suggestion for dive #2 (the direction) turned out perfect. Thanks to you both I am now a fan of the PC Jetties. I will definitely be back and will drop you both a message whenever I get back down here. I would love to dive with you both again!

There is definitely a good bit of algae in the water. On the boat dive (I did on Friday AM) we didn't encounter it at all. It appears to be close to shore only. On the Jetties dives we did encounter it...but it really wasn't too bad. And we moved out of it during the dives. So even though there was algae, the Jetties were still a good dive today.
