The reason I posted here is to get the questioned answered in a travelers perspective from our area. I know the people in Canada have info but I want info from someone who has traveled up there from down here. Its all relative.

I dived with this Charter service last weekend. The nicest boat I ever dived from,freindly, helpful Captain and crew, exellent breifings, and they feed you lunch too!! Tec or Rec.

I second the comments on Seaway Vision - Kevin (owber/capt) is outstanding! Friendly, but no nonsense when it comes to safety - for instance, we had one diver come back on first daywith 300 psi in tank after Kevin said 500 min. Kevin personally checked folks guages as they got out of water, and the only way this diver stayed on the trip was for the trip leader - an instructor - to stay as his buddy the rest of the time.
We (from Northern VA) have gone last two years and are going again 1st weekend of August - by the way, we aren't taking the whole boat so if you call Kevin you can go then with a nice bunch of folks :-}

fair enough. I drove up "there" from a different "down here" (Western NY)

reguardless of where your from:: If you meet at St Lawrence Park lock your gas tank if possible. My truck got syphoned last week while I was diving.

Tavi - stuff like that, (stealing your gas), is a POS!

We want tourists to feel safe when they come here. If we ever meet up for a dive, I'll replace the gas that some jerk took. Puts us in a bad light.

I wasn't trying to put anyone in a bad light.
Just trying to give a heads up.

I wouldn't let something like that keep me from some of the best Fresh water diving I've ever seen!!

appreciate the offer though.

Absolutely no offense taken, things like this need to be reported and told, pissed at the jerk(s) that did it.

The St. Lawrence River has a variety of diving for all levels. No thermoclines, good visibility, many wrecks, etc. If your looking for a Canadain dive charter service for the Upper St. Lawrence area check out this link http://www.stlawrencecharters.com/.
On some of the cherter websites they have lodging that they recommend. Have fun and enjoy.

If you end up on 81 in NY, stop by Alexandria Bay and dive The Islander. Easy to get to, pretty popular place, shore dive. (wreck diving by boat is cool, but The Islander can make a nice way to either start or end a diving vacation if you haven't been there) The Conestoga and The Rothesay are also decent shore dives, in Canada.

If you're in the A Bay area, a clean, low cost hotel near 81 is the Bridgeview.
