this is Catherine96821:Wildcard, Kathy, Well, Ke Akua Kalikimaka blessed me today and someone that works for Matson gave me the most beautiful Noble Fir. He said it was for an employee raffle but they all forgot to enter! I am set...but can I think of something else from Alaska?....how bout an antique sled with a team of dogs or a winter white down parka with faux fox trim hood? Thanks! Merry Christmas to you guys.
One of my great pleasures at home is on clear nights in the winter when the lights are out and dancing,I will howl and the sled dog teams over the ridge will start singing for me. Just loud enough for background music. Sometimes the resident wolves will join in too.
Faux? Naaa, we use real dead animals. To be a true Alaskan you must own a dead animal face hat.

You guys ever think of getting a tree in a pot? I had an Xmas tree rental plan for the big island. 1 tree delivered and picked up for one month, live in a pot for $100 or so. I think it would be a great PT business if someone had some land.

(Catherine on Jim's laptop, don't know my password...) Please take pictures and post! I have never been to Alaska and am intrigued with dog sledding. Great tree idea....

Catherine-- we hiked Makapu'u Lighthouse today and got to see 2 whales playing around. They kept fin and tail slapping. They would do some head slaps to. They played for us for about 15 minutes. One did breach which was awesome. I am hoping the pictures we took will come out seeing as how we used a 35mm instead of digital. If any come out I will bring them to a lunch we will have to do sometime. We also hiked Kolekole Pass to see the Ali'i beheading stone. That wasn't nearly as much of a hike though.

Thanks Debbie, I just got into it the last couple years. I am technically challenged so its been a bit of a struggle. (like the first time I tried to shoot in Cozumel but did not know how the camera turned on..) It is so fun. When do you go to Maui?

Well, I guess the big thing about u/w photography is practice, practice, practice (and having decent camera gear would help too  Hopefully I'll get some decent shots one day :)
We just got back from Maui... almost 2 weeks ago.. wow... has it been that long already?! ...and it's cold here at home. Haven't braved diving here again yet... too much of a shock. lol

hmmm...I was going to say that Roger and I wanted to hike up there a while back and due to the construction it was be hard to park and hike up there. How'd ya do it?
You also get a great view of the whales near Blowhole and Lanai Look out...also from Diamond Head lighthouse.

since there are NO CHRISTMAS TREES left on this island, I have a little too much time.

No trees already? We've got a fake one with the lights already on it - best investment I made last year. I know, not much in the holiday spirit - but the holiday season every year is getting busier and busier for me - one less thing to hassle with is a blessing.

Actually, we always did the real tree every year, but with the tree shortage scare last year and the prices being ridiculous, we opted to just buy the fake one.

I did too, but my SoCal bred 15 yr old had a fit. So, I reverted back. Chepar, take your Christmas photo and share the love...

Lanai Lookout is my favorite spot but we got up kinda late that day and decided Makapu'u was the site. Plus we need the exercise. There was plenty of parking (which is amazing) and there is a small trail around the construction area that leads to the main path. I was pretty darn flat that day and we were wishing we would have brought our dive gear. We are going back to hike it this weekend again (we REALLY need the exercise). The daughter (12y.o.a) whined and cried the whole hike up, was happy to see the whales and laughed and sang all the way down.

My daughter had a fit too, when we got the fake tree last year. But since I'm the one that puts up the tree, puts up the lights, takes off the lights, takes down the tree . . . I had to insist on at least a short break. We'll probably end up going back to real trees eventually - but for now I'm loving the simplicity of opening the box, putting the 3 parts of the "trunk" together, pushing down the branches and viola! - a tree! :D

I don't have any scuba photos - much less Christmas one. That is, except the photo Dan took of me on a dive last month. It's on the club website - virtually unrecognizable in head to toe black neoprene. Haven't been out at all this month - sent my gear in for servicing and I've just been swamped with general holiday craziness.
