Because I know there's more than one Christmas Island, I'm referring to the one in the Indian Ocean between Western Australia and Indonesia, not the one in the Pacific :)

Thinking about going up in late Jan/early Feb. Worth it? Is the diving that spectacular to justify the cost?

Appreciate any thoughts! :coffee:

Dived Christmas island in november 2006. Spent a week there followed by 2 weeks on cocos(keeling).

Christmas has some great diving. Lots of wall diving with some good diving on the tops of the reef. Late november is when the red crab migration occurs. The crab spawning usually attracts the whale sharks.

Its worth booking a hire car to get around. If you stay in the settlement area( At the sunset?) both dive shops are close, as is the pub.

If you do go definitely go to cocos as well, palm fringed white sand islands, great diving, surface intervals spent sitting under coconut trees. No need for a car

November to feb is the wet season.
