Were I did my deep dive learning was around the island at Ft Wetheril. I went around it at 30-40-50-60-70-80-90 then out to 103 ft. In the process I made my own maps of the cove. I have most of the area mapped out. I guided my intructor out there on a zero vis day to do my deep dive for AOW and found at about 60 ft the vis cleared up out there. I also take experience out of town-state divers around the island. Last month we filmed part of a documentry out there at 50'. The wall is awsome. Only catch is you need to really do a surface snorkle out there to save air and you are away from the shore. Not too much room for Murphy's company out there. But is is a way to gradually make your way to the deeper waters of RI.

I am almost willing to say the points of Ft Wetherill and Castle Hill are some of the deepest shore dives off the coast of USA but I don't know about other areas. Bar Harbor in Main is deep.
