I'm a firefighter / paramedic / US&R specialist here in so cal but we don't have a dive rescue program as part of search and rescue for my department. I think Orange County Sheriff has a program. Anyone part of OCSD or a local team here who knows the process and if the agencies in charge accept outside divers? would love to get into it!

Good question. Did you ever receive any info?

I’m with the Riverside Sheriffs Dive Team. Not many teams are going to take folks from outside departments. Workers comp issues, union issues, staffing issues, etc

Let me give you an example- we have 23 days of scheduled training next year. Those are scheduled. Now add on 10-20 days of unscheduled operations.

Will your employer be ok with that? Most will not.
