Can I ask who you dived with and what you thought of the diving?
We dived with Kona Honu Divers and had a good time. I think they have the biggest boat on the island, it was very comfortable. The manta night dive was our first night dive and it was the best dive ever! I posted a full trip report with pictures on the link in my previous post, so you can check that for more details.
As for the Mauna Kea vs. Marriott, between the two the Mauna Kea is fancier with a nicer setting and beautiful beach, so I would go with that one if it's a special celebration, but either one is nice.

I'm glad I found this thread. My fiance and I are going to Hawaii for our Honeymoon in August and were wondering about the Luaus in the area. We'll be going to Kona (Outrigger Beach Resort), and we are looking forward to getting in some good diving. Can anyone recommend any good dive spots on the Kona coast?
