How easy is it to manual white balance with the A1/Gates housing ? Which lens/ports did you get ?

What housing did you have for your TRV900 ?

I have a 900 in a Gates. It's hard to justify the expense to upgrade to HD right now.

A move to HD may be warranted IF you want to sell to major networks. I'm finding that inquiries about my stock footage often fizzle once they learn it is mini-DV and not HD. They don't seem to care about the interesting behavior I've recorded. Of course by the time I upgrade to HD, there will be HD+ or some other new format. I've been through four already (VHS, Hi-8, digital-8, mini-DV) in my brief career.

Hey Doc Bill, I think the "IF" is not "IF" I want to sell, but "IF" someone is willing to buy.

I'm a vacation diver and video hobbyist....No one is going to give me money for my footage :D

C'Mon - More High Def footage of Catalina is needed! Of course, in the almost two years I've had my HDV camera, I've only taken it to Catalina once (here) - too much DM'ing and not enough diving! Need to change that..

Well you know i say discovery channel, what i mean is i would like to get my footage published ,maybe, oneday , you know??? Any one who would pay for my footage would be great, i am trying to find a neat way to get paid for doing the things that i love ,videography and diving( and photography of course).

NO question about that! I just have to follow priorities and pay my mortgage first!

There has been a group (Derek Frost and AquaOdysseas) here the past few months shooting HD footage for a new DVD product. Hopefully it will be out in the next few months.

Hey Dr. Bill, your footage is awesome. You capture some of the most interesting behaviors. It was a while back that you visited the Sole Searchers and we enjoyed it. I've been shooting with an HC1 in an Ikelite housing. Here is the first UW clip ever while I was trying to figure out settings. The surroundings should be familiar. http://67.122.16.97/lars/hc1/uwcatalinashort.wmv If your display won't do 1920x1080, set WMP to display at 50% size to avoid fractional scan lines.

I recently shot a bunch in Kona and I'm finally comfortable with the thing UW.

I've mentioned this in a couple of other threads, but if any of you are thinking of going HD, take a look at the Panasonic AG-HVX200.

I don't work for Panasonic, I work at a TV station. I've had my hands on both the HVX200 and the Sony FX-1. The Sony is a fine camera but the Panasonic is just awsome! More money, but if you're going to dig the hole , a few more feet won't kill you!

Just a heads up.

Would be interesting to see some u/w footage shot with this camera. The camera can hold 5 P2 cards? So using 5 4GB cards that's 40 minutes of video right? Then of course you have to transfer your footage to a hard drive (laptop) or some other storage device while on vacation. This will definately improve with higher capacity P2 cards I guess. The Gates housing does look nice for the HVX200 (though about as big as my HD1 housing).

So, how about a 1080p HDV camera about the size of the Sony PC1000. Am I asking for too much (if you found this post doing a scubaboard search in 2012 and have this funtionality in your camera phone/pen, you can start laughing now..)
