Am considering the northern Keys for early September.

Is anyone aware of any hotels with "dive off the dock" diving in Key Largo area?

Thanks,

Sy

There is no diving off any dock unless you are willing to swim out 3 miles or so. There is really no shore diving to be done south of Hollywood to be honest.

as mentioned, no shore dives, actually not even really any beaches. if you are planning on early sept, be sure to get trip insurance, that is the peak of hurricane season. if there are no storms, things will be great, if there are, you'll want the trip insurance.

I stayed at the Marriott in Key Largo last Oct and It's a dive are "on site". 2 dive boat trip in the morning and I was back by the pool having lunch by midday. Funnily enough I got an email through yesterday offering a special from mid Aug onwards ( exc Labour Day w/e). Not sure if I'm allowed to post the email here so try Florida Keys Scuba Diving with It’s A Dive; Florida Keys scuba diving reefs from Key Largo's Pennekamp Park to Islamorada’s Alligator Light. . The package deal they were offering was the Sea Star Special

It's a waste of money to come to the keys and dive in the marina. However, you could go to Broward County and dive directly from the beach. Though if you're going to come all this way, you have to do at least one boat dive in the keys. But, make it your first because you might decide that you want to do more.:D

I'm with Pickens, Holiday Inn and Ramada share space (can swim in either pool) in Key Largo. We usually book with Horizon Divers ( Scuba Diving Key Largo Florida Diving Upper Keys Snorkeling ) and they give us a great rate at Ramada or Holiday Inn. Haven't stayed at the Holiday Inn yet, usually Ramada and it is one of few hotels I can actually feel comfortable and fall into a deep sleep in! Just walk out of your room and onto the boat. They have storage for your gear AND they will actually ship it back home for you!

Good Luck! hmmm maybe I will try to get some vacation time this summer!

Heads up: Hurricane season!!!! Waters can get real rough there, even with a storm in the carribean! Thats when I go from Jillgadget to pukegirl! :l:
